This page is for people from stores, banks, schools, churches, hospitals, clinics, health clubs, government agencies, emergency services, service clubs, neighborhoods...anyone who wants to find out how to be trained to respond with compassion and effectiveness to help people with dementia in our Northern Colorado communities. See who's been trained!
We offer on site education for your company/organization at no charge, although donations are gladly accepted! donate here Education is usually implemented on site in 30-60 minutes, allowing for questions and time to discuss specific issues relevant to the business with the goals of:
- increasing awareness of the signs of dementia
- knowing concrete strategies to use in communicating effectively with people living with cognitive impairment
- identifying how to locate resources and assistance for themselves and individuals living with dementia
Businesses (which don't typically provide senior health care) participating in the dementia awareness education, receive recognition and a window decal to display at the entrance to their facility with the international dementia-friendly community symbol.
This symbol communicates the dementia-friendly status to customers. Ongoing education/resources will also be provided as needed to maintain this status.
